Following an interview with a Gloucester Works representative David and his partner Jessica were referred to the Gateway project for an individual assessment of their job aspirations and opportunities.

David is a former chef keen for a career change and is looking for employment to pay for new accommodation and support for a new baby, which is expected in July.

David has recently been offered a place on an IT training course at Gloucestershire College, which will allow him to offer support and guidance to PC users as a step towards working in the IT sector.

The week long Microsoft Certificate Desktop Support Technician course will provide David with the skills to successfully support end-users and troubleshoot PC problems on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

David says, "Our initial meeting with the Gateway staff was very positive and I have since been offered a range of training to help me get a job. The weeklong MCDST training is two courses effectively rolled into one; I will be learning to work with networks and offer IT support when things go wrong which will hopefully help me get into employment.

"Once I have a job I hope to access further training which will get me a step closer to where I want to be, which is working in robotics."
